North Texas Trials Association
National
Work Schedule
Ray is seeking help from club members to take ownership in section areas
along the established loop. This will be a club effort and all volunteers
are welcome. We can not do all the work ourselves and we look forward
to a successful Longhorn National.
We are looking to have a minimum of 12 sections per day per the NATC guidelines.
We will make a decision to add any PRO or EXPERT only sections once we
have a chance to evaluate the number of judges/checkers we can get as
volunteers and the number of people needed for the scoring. We will likely
have to split the starters between sections 6 and 7 per NATC rules. The
rules require split starts if entries exceed 100 riders in all classes
combined. This will require additional workers which can take away from
the PRO and EXPERT only sections.
We have 9 full weekends, absent the 3 weekends for the state series events
and Easter, for preparing the sections and the course for the national
starting on January 8th. There will be work conducted every open weekend
during that period. We believe this should be sufficient time to undertake
the work necessary to host an event that will be as good as or better
than the NTTA has completed in the past. The following schedule is tentative
given potential foul weather and other nuisances. Please do not hesitate
to ask questions as we will be available and do not and will not attempt
to keep volunteers in the dark. If you have concerns, PLEASE let me know
and let’s be open and frank as we can not do all that is necessary
by ourselves. It is my intention as the trialsmaster to include everyone’s
ideas and suggestions as is prudent. Since this is the first National
of 2005, I would like to host a fun event where all classes of riders
drive away on Sunday afternoon with a smile. With that in mind, as you
look at section areas try to make the section so the average expert/master
level club rider will attempt it, we do not want sections where the majority
of the riders take a 5 and pass on.
Saturday January 8 with club event for Sunday the 9;
Determine major section areas and seek volunteers for clearing and determining
lines.
January 15 and 16 – Both days for continued work
on major section areas and preliminary loop and course path. We would
like to have this weekend for assigning the section areas for club volunteers
to take ownership and responsibility.
January 22 and 23 – Continue to work on the course
and determine areas where additional sections are needed to fill in any
gaps in the course.
January 29 and 30 – Super bowl weekend!! We will
likely work on Saturday and should have all section areas determined and
assigned.
February 5 and 6 – STTA event in Centerville.
February 12 and 13 – Continue to work on section
design, begin preliminary spot flagging and test riding the section areas.
February 19 and 20 – CTTA event in Katemcy.
February 26 and 27 – Continued section spot flagging
and testing; loop clearing and marking.
March 5 and 6 – NTTA event at Red River.
March 12 and 13 – One month to go. Continue with
section testing and marking loop to and from pit area.
March 19 and 20 – Section flagging, determine pits/scoring
area layout, determine spectator loop flow and loop marking.
March 26 and 27 – Easter weekend. Work as needed
Saturday, none scheduled for Sunday.
April 2 and 3 – Final BIG PUSH. Sections fully
taped and marked, loop cleared and ready, spectator loop marked and pits
generally ready for roll in.
Week of the event: The sections will be inspected by
the NATC Sporting Stewart(s) most likely on Thursday the 7th. The pits
will also open for competitors on Thursday morning with NTTA volunteers
welcome all week. We will need all scoring volunteers to plan on a meeting
around 3pm on Friday the 8th with competitor sign ups/tech inspections
from 3 to 6 pm. The events will begin at 9 am both days.
Please contact Ray Roblin at 972-523-0487 or Ramon Aguirre at 214-801-3294
with questions or comments. If you do not reach me, please leave a message
and I will return your call.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to a busy and successful Longhorn
National. - Ray
